We love hockey. We love the players. We love the fans. We (usually) even love the coaches.
That’s why we’re both still playing this game in the depths of the European pro leagues in our late 20s.
Everyone that has experienced hockey knows there is so much more to a player than his goals, assists and penalty minutes. Yet, time and time again we’ve seen players get reduced to the number of goals they scored in a game.
ShedLight Hockey is a platform that connects the dots and even fills in the picture with vibrant colors.
On the one hand, we want to connect the dots by bringing more transparency to the old (especially European) way of recruiting a player based rudimentary data points.
A further goal is to bring the individuality and passion of the hockey world to life online in a dynamic way.
We want to get to know players beyond their stats and truly learn why they have such an adoration for the game. As a fan, your beloved hockey team should be more than a roster filled with stats. ShedLight wants to be a place for everyone to feel and partake in the emotion that makes us who we are as a community.
Pulkit graduated from Harvard in 2015, with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He is currently working as an engineer, at “Ballast Point Brewing and Spirits” – one of America’s fastest growing craft brewery, which is located in San Diego, California. Pulkit and Ryan were college freshmen roommates, and this was the first time he was exposed to hockey! Since then, he’s seen Ryan play for Harvard and then when he was in Switzerland on holiday, saw Ryan play for Rapperswil (and spend the first 5 minutes in the penalty box!). Pulkit really loves traveling, and at this point, has visited 22 countries with Morocco, Japan, and Cambodia being his top 3!
Ryan grew up playing hockey for the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, ZSC Lions and Team Switzerland, including two World Junior Championships in Saskatoon and Buffalo. Instead of immediately going pro, he chose to attend Harvard and play for the Crimson. After graduating from Harvard in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Ryan moved back to Switzerland to once again play for the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers. Besides being passionate about finance, he also loves travelling and has been to almost as many countries as Pulkit. Barcelona, Prague and Boston are his favorite cities
Steve grew up playing hockey in Holland, Switzerland, Germany and Canada before being recruited to Miami University in Ohio as a student athlete. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a minor in Mathematics. Currently plays for the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers.
